Details This article describes the development of a vocabulary list as a part of a Japanese vocabulary test of science for bilingual and multilingual children. In the vocabulary list, it is important to select words which are necessary for studying and reflect the content of science taught in elementary school. In the first part of the article, we investigated what method is effective to classify the vocabulary of science. The result suggests that a combination of grades and fields is more effective to classify the vocabulary. The second part describes selection of words. We selected words which are necessary for studying science based on coverage and which reflect the content of science based on keyness. The vocabulary list is available on the web.
