Details Language is fundamentally vocal. Vocalized language not only conveys literal meanings but also expresses variety of thought and emotions. Oral communication activities such as drama and public speaking should be given a special attention in Teaching English as a Foreign Language. The Oral Communication Special Interest Group (OC SIG) has conducted annual Oral Communication Festival (OCF) since 1996 to provide opportunities for college students and teachers to perform and appreciate oral performances. Given
performance is enhanced by empathetic audience at the OCF.

The OC SIG discussed significance of the festival as a Performance-Oriented Approach at JACET symposium in 2011. This symposium, on the other hand, will focus on the OCF as a holistic approach to integrating thought and art. Each presenter will discuss their approach to OCF and analyze its effect to integrate thought and art.
