概要 In addressing a robust design problem, experiments need to be performed. This paper presents a new robust design approach to reducing the number of experiments as well as facilitating each single experiment without sacrificing the expected solution quality. This approach first decomposes the whole system to be designed into several subsystems so that no subsystem should receive output variables from other subsystems, and then handles the robust design problem of the whole system by conducting experiments only on each subsystem instead of on the whole system. A simple example is given to illustrate how the proposed approach works. Further, a comparison between the proposed approach and the traditional one which conducts experiments on the whole system is made. The comparison shows that the proposed approach is effective at reducing the total scale of experiments especially when the dimensions of the robust design problem are large.
