概要 In order to reduce the cost of the experiments which are necessary to deal with a design-for-quality problem, decompo-sitional approach is advocated. In the 1st report, a method of solving a design-for-quality problem by a decompositional approach was proposed, assuming that the product to be designed was disassembled into plural parts in parallel. However, it is not always possible to take a product apart in such a simple way. In general, the relationship among the parts, which constitute a product, is described as a combination of parallel relations and series relations. In this paper, therefore, another design-for-quality method by a decompositional approach is presented first, assuming that the product is disassembled into plural parts in series. And then, the effectiveness of this method is investigated through an example. Further, a way of combining these two design-for-quality methods is also developed, so that a product which consists of plural parts having the general relationship among them can be treated through decompositional approach.
