Details | This study explored the effects of data-driven learning in on-demand English classes. The participants were thirteen Japanese university EFL students. They wrote essays in English before and after ten error correction sessions, in which the author highlighted all article- and preposition-omission errors in their essays and provided them with screenshots of the corpus concordance lines, which were related to the students’ errors. The students were told to consult them for error correction. The students indirectly referred to the corpus data and did not directly use it by themselves. The results show that error correction with indirect corpus use contributed to accurate use of articles, while it did not promote accurate use of preposition. |
