概要 This study explores the impact of a data-driven learning (DDL) approach on Japanese university students' understanding and use of gender-neutral language. Twelve intermediate-level undergraduate economics majors participated, focusing on 12 English terms traditionally gender-specific but now shifting to neutral alternatives. Using the LECS Online corpus, students analyzed and compared these terms through investigative tasks. Pre- and post-tests showed increased use of gender-neutral terms and fewer gender-specific expressions and errors. However, reflective writing revealed persistent stereotypes and traditional habits influencing perceptions, suggesting that linguistic change alone cannot address deep-seated biases. A comprehensive educational approach integrating social and historical contexts is needed to promote gender inclusivity and linguistic equity.
